The 2008 Summer programme is now in the events page and will be updated as events are confirmed, so please check it regularly.

The Photos link will take you to the eclectic collection of King John's pictures on Flickr, including pictures of the Day of Dance on Saturday 26th April. We had an excellent day in Fareham, East Meon and Southwick, and the Southwick Brewhouse was in full steam when we arrived at the Golden Lion.

Jon Gale has also recently added photos of the Moulton Village Festival on 16th-18th May 2008.

Dawn and Martin at the Junction Inn, St. Denys won the 2008 Southampton Best Bar None "Best Community Pub" award on 4th June 2008 - well done!

 About Us

We dance at various venues throughout the year (see our programme), performing a number of styles of Morris appropriate to the season and venue. In the spring and summer, we perform Morris in the style of the southern midlands of England, often referred to as "Cotswold" Morris.

At suitable venues we perform dances from Lancashire and Cheshire, often referred to as North West Morris, a more regimented style, danced in clogs. Around Christmas we perform dances from the Welsh borders and also mummers plays based on those collected in Hampshire.

Morris Ring LogoKing John's Morris Men are members of the Morris Ring, an international association of men's Morris Clubs.

We practise between September and the end of April on Mondays from 20:00 in the Scout Centre, 44 Chamberlayne Road, Eastleigh, SO50 5JH and always welcome new members.

Bob Waller, webmaster and former Squire of King John's Morris Men collapsed and died whilst dancing with the side at the Thaxted Morris Ring meeting in Saffron Walden on 4th June 2005. He was aged 53. An obituary has been prepared by Martin Kennard of KJM.

We also remember Roy Watts, latterly an Honorary Member of the side, who died aged 77 in February 2008. Our condolences go to Elaine and his sons. Naturally, we danced and sang in the church at the funeral, as Roy would have wanted. Farewell old friend.
