The Saddleworth Rushcart

The event takes place on the bank holiday weekend of Friday 22nd to Sunday 24th of August, 2014. The cost is minimal for camping (around £5 per tent) and the festival promises to be well worth the expenditure and includes three days of Morris-related fun for everyone to come and experience. The Friday consists of an informal beer, song, and music session, Saturday involves the Rushcart being moved through the various villages in Saddleworth, and Sunday sees all manner of events including gurning competitions, wrestling, and clog stepping. It's definitely the place to visit if you're part of a side or just a lone enthusiast of Morris dancing.
Swanage Folk Festival
With over 50 sides at the 2013 Swanage Folk Festival, competition will be fierce for sides to gain entry into the running of the 2014 event. Sides come from afar and travel across the UK to attend Swanage Folk Festival due to its eclectic mix of traditional Morris dancing styles (Cotswold, Border, North West, Molly, Sword Dancing etc.) and even some more unusual styles as well including belly dancing. The musical line up for the festival includes Blackbeard's Tea Party, the Urban Folk Quartet, and the Wareham Wailers. 2014 is sure to be a fantastic occasion. The festival takes place on the second Friday following the August Bank Holiday Monday.
Lincoln BIG Morris Dancing Festival
2014 will see another year of the Lincoln Morris festival bring the traditional folk dance style to whoever wishes to attend. East-midlands dance groups will flock to Lincoln and perform a variety of traditional Morris dances in a variety of locations including the Brayford Waterfront, Cathedral Quarters, and the High Street. You'll get to witness a total of 27 Morris groups in attendance at the festival ensuring that spectators will get the very most out of the experience as over 250 dancers fill the Lincoln Streets to perform their perfected craft. The Lincoln BIG Morris Dancing Festival will take place on the 6th September 2014 and is sure to be the talk of the city of Lincoln
National Morris Weekend
It doesn't get bigger than national, with the National Morris Weekend taking place in Evesham from the 20th to the 22nd June 2014. Spectators can expect only the highest standards of Morris dancing at this festival due to the relatively strict selection policy that ensures only the most talented performers will display impeccable standards of Morris dancing in order to preserve the fine tradition as well as allow it to thrive in the modern day. Various locations including the beautiful Market Square and The Fleece Inn host a selection of the very best Morris dance sides, and don't forget the proximity to the beautiful river Avon which features boat trips for the lucky visitors. It's definitely worth pre-booking your boat trip tickets since you can't enjoy one without having done so, but a variety of different venues will also host singing and dancing sessions and the breakfasts on the Saturday and Sunday mornings are legendary.
